A worldwide, specialized engineering firm, located near Pittsburgh, PA, is seeking a Process Specialist.
This position is a Technical Specialist & Consultant on Selected Technology for projects. It is responsible for supporting bench testing and pilot projects including assembly of bench study equipment, pilot operations and start-up assistance.
Perform treatability studies on wastewater samples. Conduct remote treatability work, field analysis and pilot work at client’s facilities or other facilities.
Obtain and assemble bench scale equipment to perform treatability testing. Perform laboratory treatability studies with test equipment, pumps controllers and wastewaters.
Perform analyses of parameters of interest with in-house equipment and prepare samples for outside laboratory analysis.
Participate in the planning, setup, and operation of pilot treatment units.
Process selection and sizing for tenders, requiring both experience of the technology and thorough knowledge of company’s design tools;
Complete integrated process designs using company equipment as well as third party equipment;
Attend site visits and participate in start-ups, obtain and manage data on performance, design issues, etc.;
Develop working relationships with appropriate company experts for effective knowledge transfer on company’s technologies.
Performance Guarantees: Provide data-based consulting to determine realistic guarantees to be offered in Tenders; assess and quantify project risk; assist in crafting performance guarantee language in proposals;
Design to Cost: Be able to balance number and size of units to obtain optimum cost; recognize the benefits in terms of Total Installed Cost;
Train Sales in the application and features & benefits of the technology;
Client Presentations: presenting the selected technology at customer seminars and client project presentations;
Work with counterpart in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering Specialist; if assigned).
A Bachelor’s Degree in a science/technology or engineering field is required for this position
Three (3) plus years of chemical/environmental experience; emphasis on wastewater preferred
Ability to use pilot equipment, laboratory instrumentation and computer software
Knowledge of laboratory and industry safety precautions
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
Excellent writing and statistical skills; Qualified candidates will possess excellent oral and written communication skills, the ability to work in a team environment, the ability to track task progress and the ability to meet tight project deadlines.
The position requires travel for assessment and review of job sites and/or training, pilot operations and treatability work. 50% travel, mainly domestic.
