The Electrical Controls Engineer will assist in the design and implementation of electrical and control systems for company's full offering of marking machines. Machines can range from small integrator models based on proprietary software and hardware to custom turn-key systems requiring integration of industrial automation components such as PLCs, HMIs, Robotics, Vision Systems, and Motion Control.
Work with Sales, Engineering, and Production to understand the necessary flow and design of control systems for material handling, marking, and inspection systems.
Electrical design of power and control circuits including component selection and electrical panel layouts.
Create bill of materials (BOMs) in MISys Manufacturing MRP software for release to Purchasing Department.
Create electrical schematics and layout drawings in CAD software for release to Production Department.
Utilize Rockwell Software products for control system programming including PLC logic and HMI screen design.
Work with the Service team to troubleshoot and commission machines.
Assist in handling service and support calls from customers for electrical and controls systems.
Perform service work including inspections, installations and start-ups on an occasional basis, as a back-up to the service team.
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering (or equivalent), experience not required but a plus.
Ability to create PLC logic and HMI screens from scratch to integrate OEM marking equipment into custom turn-key systems
Familiarity with Allen-Bradley software including Studio5000, RSLogix500, and FactoryTalk View
Experience with 2D and 3D CAD software (AutoCAD Electrical, Autodesk Vault, Autodesk Inventor experience a plus)
Familiarity with applicable codes and standards such as NEC, NFPA 79, UL508a
Experience with networking and common industrial protocols (EtherNet/IP and PROFINET)
Ability to read and create electrical schematics using NFPA and IEC standards
Ability to multi-task and learn quickly in a changing, fast paced work environment
Board level circuit design and microcontroller programming (FPGA, PIC, etc.) a plus
