We are working with a manufacturer of highly customized specialty products to identify a Shift Supervisor. Known for high volume and quick turnaround, our confidential client produces and ships customized specialty products to over 100 countries across the globe. With a focus on product flow and process improvement, the Shift Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the production area for Second Shift operations. Reporting to a Senior Operations Manager, and working closely with the Production Supervisor, the Shift Supervisor will oversee and direct multiple areas of production.
All candidates will have experience in holding others accountable in a metric driven production environment, managing staffing levels based on trends and forecasts, and producing numbers and data as needed. The ideal candidate will be a strong and energetic leader; someone who will take initiative to jump in alongside their team to both push and support them in getting the job done.
Direct and oversee the flow of work on the production floor.
Continuously improve the efficiencies, effectiveness, and quality standards of the production area.
Balance the labor in the production department to the capacity demanded of each individual area.
Monitor departmental and individual performance and provide appropriate feedback, encouragement, and discipline when necessary in order to facilitate department improvements.
Maintain and improve staff morale through positive example and a solution-oriented approach toward problem solving.
Manage employee relations by interviewing, hiring, monitoring absenteeism, tardiness, time cards, etc.
Provide technical support when needed and positive encouragement to the staff at all times.
Other cross-functional tasks as assigned by Manager.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience in a production role; high volume, manufacturing setting required, 50+ employees preferred.
Engineering degree preferred; Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering highly desired.
Understanding of Production Control, Product Flow, and Process Improvement.
Proficiency in Production metrics and reporting; On-Time Delivery, Manufacturing Cycle Time, Yield, Throughput, Capacity Utilization, etc.
Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.
