It is the responsibility of the Project Engineer II to plan, coordinate, and execute assigned projects. These projects can include, but are not limited to, the support of marketing and sales efforts, manufacturing support, and new product development. This individual interacts with all internal departments as well as suppliers and customers. The Project Engineer II has developed an understanding of company products (or related industry products) and systems through a number of years of experience. The Project Engineer II will use his or her knowledge to mentor other Engineering staff.
Duties and Responsibilities
Provides engineering support of existing or modified products as directed by the Engineering Manager. These products may include filter housings, filter elements, hydraulic products, fuels products, diagnostic products, and systems, etc. Such support includes cost estimation, sales documentation, production support for sales orders, product design development, specification of components, modification of existing products, engineering computations, prototyping, new product development, preparation of full manufacturing data, and the support of new products as assigned. The individual will be a self-starter managing engineering projects proactively and using creative problem-solving skills to keep projects on plan.
Supports corporate sales and marketing efforts through consistent direct interaction with sales and marketing personnel. Also, may include direct customer interaction, sales trips, and distributor support.
Uses product knowledge and creativity to develop ideas for new products and more efficient processes.
Develops new products for commercial launch, from concept through design, testing, and introduction.
Supports new products after commercial introduction. Evaluates, improves, and certifies for production any new products. Such efforts would include, but are not limited to, the creation and/or design review of the following documents; SOP (Standard Operating Procedures), assembly drawings, element construction drawings, detail machining drawings, BOM’s (Bill of Material), BOO’s (Bills of Operation), assembly drawings, technical manuals, etc.
Provides manufacturing engineering support for the design of new products or the modification of established products in response to company or customer requirements within the guidelines of the Company policy, cost effectiveness, manufacturability, product safety and liability, accepted engineering practices, applicable standards or regulations, lean manufacturing principles, and within the time constraints established by the Engineering Manager.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering is required; BSME, BSIE, or BSEE is required.
Minimum of three (3) years’ experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
Knowledge of SolidWorks or equivalent computer aided drafting system is required.
Experience with SolidWorks Simulation, SolidWorks Flow Simulation or other simulation and FEA software is preferred.
Experience in fluid power industry and/or manufacturing environment is preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of product design, project management, and schematics as applied to fluid power is preferred.
Ability to effectively present information in one-to-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Certificates and Licenses:
Fluid Power Specialist Certification is required within eighteen months of employment.
Travel, including driving, is required, including occasional travel to domestic and international locations.
