The West Virginia University Research Corporation is seeking applications for a Laboratory Manager. The primary purpose of this position is to assist in the behavioral characterization of rodents following experimental stroke and other manipulations, and conduct molecular biological and neurochemical assays on experimental tissues within the Engler-Chiurazzi/Simpkins laboratories.
In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will:
Prepare pharmacologic agents.
Administer agents to rodents using a variety of methods.
Characterize animal health and sickness.
Conduct small animal surgery and post-surgical monitoring.
Evaluate locomotor, affective and cognitive changes.
Conduct of a variety of molecular biology and neurochemical assays (i.e. immunohistochemistry, western blot, cell cultures, RT-PCR, etc.).
Bachelor’s degree in neuroscience, biology, anatomy, physiology, psychology, or related field; master’s degree preferred
At least two (2) years of related research experience
An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered
