We are currently accepting resumes for a Grid Energy Storage Specialist to join our Substation Division to provide a variety of renewable integration solutions.
In this role you will have an opportunity to become the subject matter expert on various battery storage solutions for our customers. Working closely with our Sales Engineers, you will provide the technical support and expertise to our customer specifications for electric grid-installed energy storage. You will be challenged to devise competitive solutions to attract storage business and lead the implementation and installation of storage systems working with suppliers and our parent company, Mitsubishi Electric Co. (MELCO) in Japan.
In this role you will:
Perform engineering activities that support the design and installation of energy storage solutions for customer projects.
Collaborate with factories, MELCO marketing, MEPPI engineering staff, and third party supplies to identify available energy storage solutions.
Visit project site locations to provide product support as needed.
Address technical and commercial design requirements with customers that result in complete SSD products.
Assist sales engineers to prepare and submit technical and commercial budgetary and firm proposals for products/services in response to customer’s interest, need, and RFQs. Propose and evaluate cost reduction initiatives.
Develop creative solutions to battery storage engineering design challenges for projects that have been entered, incorporating MELCO and MEPPI content.
Develop solutions to mechanical, electrical and structural challenges.
Collaborate with project management to define development schedules and project construction requirements.
Interface with internal and external resources to ensure optimal integration of the Battery and subsystems into the overall product packaging. This includes meeting with other MEPPI divisions to create harmonic and black start solutions incorporating battery technologies.
Support Quality personnel during product delivery and implementation.
Organize the preliminary designs created for customer opportunities that have been developed, in a manner that makes the information available to sales and project engineers that need it.
Requirements for this position:

Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, business or other related degree with 0-2 years’ experience in energy storage batteries and related equipment, or equivalent education and experience.
Intermediate knowledge of energy storage technology and emerging uses.
Intermediate knowledge of electric utility substation product lines.
Developed interpersonal skills with ability to maintain relationships with diverse customer and supplier groups.
Additionally, you will need:
Ability to travel domestic up to 30% and international on occasional basis as required.
Ability to work in outdoor and indoor environments as required to perform work.
Ability to climb ladders, catwalks, stairs and to stand and walk rough terrain occasionally at customer visits.
Ability to drive and hold a valid driver’s license.
