The University of Pittsburgh's Health and Safety Office is seeking a Fire Safety Specialist. This is position supports the Department of Environmental Health and Safety and the Department of Public Safety and Emergency Management by developing, coordinating, and implementing programs designed to assure that the University community is prepared for various emergency scenarios. Programs that the incumbent will be responsible for include emergency preparedness exercises and other educational activities. Communication with all levels of faculty, staff, and students at the University is necessary for this position.

The incumbent should have knowledge of emergency management and life safety principles/practices. A strong background in risk mitigation, emergency response, and business recovery is necessary for this position. Knowledge of building systems for emergency notifications and the detection and suppression of fire is also preferred. Experience in academic settings is a plus. A degree or advanced certification that is directly applicable to the job responsibilities may be considered in lieu of experience.
