Can you walk me through a typical day of a Bridge Software Engineer?
Civil engineer (structures) with a software development background to work on bridge related software projects.
Attend and participate in weekly project meetings
Be prepared for informal and formal meetings. Present information in a clear and organized manner.
Record information. Have a writing utensil and paper when receiving information from others and at meetings.
Assist project/technical managers and more experienced engineers in ensuring that task schedules and budgets are met
Complete coding of assigned task, fully document code creation or revisions
Collaborate with peers and more experienced engineers about assigned task and the product code
Apply AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications to the program design engine
Maintain technical knowledge and updates to AASHTO through completion of various training initiatives: attending seminars, reviewing profession publications, and attending in-house training
When required, prepare functional mock-ups prior to coding
Learn from others.
Help others learn from you. Mentor and coach other employees.

This position can lead to advancement within the team upon development and opportunities, as a Civil Engineer II, Technical or Project Manager.
Must possess BS in Civil Engineering.
Must possess 5 or more years of experience with software programming as it relates to structural (bridge) projects.
Professional Engineer (P.E.) certification preferred or ability to obtain within 1 year.
Must have Experience in one or more of the following – C#, Visual C++, WPF, NET framework, Objected-oriented Software Design, Active X/COM, XML, Relational Database Design, Oracle/SQL Server.
OpenGL or general computer graphics is a plus.
Restful Web Services.
Software architecture and design.
