POSITION TITLE: UNIT MANAGER – PRODUCT DATA MANAGEMENT
DEPARTMENT: CLIENT DATA & FUND ADMINISTRATION
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent financial services experience in lieu of degree required. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business, Mathematics or Computer Science preferred.
5+ years of business experience required, 2+ years of managing data in enterprise applications and/or data warehouses required; data management experience in the financial services or mutual fund industry preferred. Back or middle office operational experience in the mutual fund industry preferred.
High degree of proficiency with MS Office products including Excel, Access, Visio & Project, including VBA & SQL experience required.
Experience with financial services operational systems and 3rd-party data service providers including DST, BNYM, DTCC, State Street, Bloomberg and Donnelly preferred.
Advanced understanding of business processes driving the data as well as downstream business processes driven by the data preferred.
Advanced understanding of the data in one or more of the aforementioned systems, including the relationship between the source data and internal databases and applications preferred.
Manage a data management team responsible for establishing and stewarding high volumes of data, with varying degrees of complexity, on multiple internal and external systems
Establish and manage effective data management practices to ensure the quality and timeliness of data required to support N-PORT and N-CEN regulatory filing requirements
Ensure all data exceptions are effectively and efficiently triaged by the data management team; escalate to and partner with applicable business areas as necessary
Develop and implement business process and workflow to validate N-PORT and N-CEN static, event-driven and library data on a cyclical basis
Manage the definition of variance thresholds within the regulatory filing application (ArcFiling); perform ongoing reviews for reasonability and applicability based on historical results; partner with business areas to recommend and adjust as necessary
Manage and direct the workflow of the data management team to ensure the efficient and effective utilization of staff capacity
Oversee and/or participate in the research and analysis necessary to resolve both complex and routine data issues
Continuously evaluate current internal processes against business needs; identify new or enhanced solutions to more effectively and efficiently deliver required outcomes
Define and implement metrics to measure and report data quality and operational results; identify and introduce efforts to continuously improve those results
Collaborate with internal service partners (Compliance, Legal, Fund Treasury, IMO, etc.) and key external vendors (State Street, BNYM, Donnelley, Bloomberg, etc.) to introduce process improvements, data enrichment opportunities and/or resolve data and platform issues impacting internal and/or external data and reporting consumers
Participate as a key contributor to enterprise data strategy initiatives
Optimize resources, technology, tools and process to effectively deliver service and meet or exceed client expectations
Manage, oversee or participate in project teams; ensure adequate resources are assigned and project deliverables are met within prescribed deadlines
Interview and hire new employees; evaluate performance and provide feedback; coach and counsel employees as necessary; provide necessary training and development
Monitor daily activity to ensure adherence to and compliance with current policies, procedures and quality standards
