We are seeking a dynamic, forward-thinking individual to join our Project Management team located at our Global headquarters in Jefferson Hills, PA. KJLC is a growing global manufacturer and distributor of vacuum technology.
The Manufacturing Engineer will coordinate all aspects of a Machine Shop project and will be the sole owner from order placement until the job is shipped. They will work with other departments to ensure that simultaneously the product meets the customer’s needs and is designed for the most efficient manufacturing methods. They will develop a detailed manufacturing plan (routing) for their projects that incorporates the previously established “most efficient” manufacturing methods. This person will need to have a wide degree of creativity, latitude, and innovation is expected.
Key Job Elements:
Assist Product Management with the development of new products.
Assist Product Management by generating cost estimates to be used when quoting potential manufacturing projects.
Review engineering models and drawings during the design phase. Work with Engineering to guarantee that the design allows for the most efficient method of manufacturing.
Assist with the check and approval process.
Work with Material Control and Engineering to optimize the characteristics of material ordered to allow for more efficient manufacturing across a broad spectrum of products.
Work with Engineering, Manufacturing Engineers, Key Shop Personnel, and any other resource as required to develop new manufacturing techniques with the goal of improving cost position or allowing for development of new products.
Develops work plan that spells out the sequence of manufacturing steps (Router) and guarantees the most efficient method of manufacturing a quality product on budget.
Meets with Product Management, Deliveries Department, Material Control, Key Shop Personnel, Engineering, and any other resource as required to discuss and understand the entire scope of the project.
Responsible for the initial timeline that verifies the customer’s desired delivery date can be met.
Release project to shop floor and assist when needed on challenges that arise.
Create recovery plans for unplanned events utilizing less common manufacturing techniques.
Overnight domestic and international travel.

Basic CAD software understanding.

U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
Experience in manufacturing for the Vacuum Science Industry.
Minimum five years’ or equivalent experience in manufacturing including but not limited to welding, fabricating, and machining of multiple materials.
Minimum two years’ or equivalent experience in planning and coordinating manufacturing activities.
Hands-on experience as a machinist.
Hands-on experience as a welder.
Bachelor’s degree in a manufacturing related field or equivalent working experience.
