IQ Inc. is seeking a Signal Engineer to be responsible for the technical development and accuracy of designs completed for assigned projects, including estimating, scheduling, meeting contract commitments, and supporting other team members. The position requires a strong obligation, commitment, and ownership to the overall safety and signal engineering standards for assigned projects.
It is preferred that successful candidates work in the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, or Jacksonville, Florida, office, but remote locations will be considered. If candidate is located outside of Pittsburgh, periodic travel to Pittsburgh or Jacksonville will be necessary.
Design and upgrade of rail signaling systems
Work with Engineers and Designers to develop project requirements for multi-departmental solutions, identify and mitigate potential technical/contractual project issues
Be responsible for the construction design including hardware configuration and/or vital/non vital software logic
Support or act as liaison between the design team and customers for providing needed information for both sides, and be aware of project schedules and budgets
Participate in the preparation of competitive bid estimates including quantification of engineering hours, equipment listing for ordering purposes, support requirements, manufacturing, parts assembly and quotes from outside vendors
Proactively identify risks and creatively resolve issues while maintaining GAI quality standards
5-15 years of experience in Signaling Design
Degree in electrical engineering, computer programming or experience with embedded systems is preferred
Possess a strong understanding of design concepts related to one or more of the following; Electrologix, Microlok and/or VPI; Candidate should demonstrate the capacity to learn each of these technologies over time
Candidate should possess a developing understanding of the rules for failsafe signal designs, FRA and AAR rules, and the technologies applied to signal design systems
