Candidates will plan, layout and construct the wooden frames/molds and then oversee the concrete forming/casting aspect of the role.
Will create models from specifications working closely with design, engineering and manufacturing in developing both new and ongoing projects.
Plans, lays out, and constructs wooden molds or sectional patterns used in forming architectural products by performing the following duties.
RESPONSIBILITIES Include but are not limited to the following.
wood stock, dividing pattern into sections according to shape of casting to facilitate removal of precast from mold.
•Cuts and shapes parts from castings of varied shapes, sizes and patterns.
•Fits and fastens parts together to form pattern or section.
•Trims, sands, and shapes surfaces.
•Assembles sections and verifies dimensions of complete pattern.
•Seals mold using epoxies, lacquers or polyurethane coating applied by spray, brush or roller.
•Sets up molds according to shop drawings. Repair and maintain molds as necessary.
EDUCATION AND OR EXPERIENCE : High School Graduate, One/Two year certificate/degree from college or technical school; and one-two years of related experience and or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES : Must understand basic blueprint reading and ability to read a tape measure. Ideally also seeking a candidate with knowledge and exposure to 3D modeling software, CAD and has the ability to read blueprints. Must understand the entire process of product development and have the ability to work independently and multi-task. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational and communication skills and will have management potential in the near future.
