Carnegie Mellon, one of the world leaders in higher education and research, is seeking a Senior SAN and Virtualization Engineer to join our Infrastructure Services and Applications Integration Services group, within the Computing Services Division. The Engineer is responsible for the Division's Storage Area Network (SAN) and Virtualization environments. The Engineer will ensure storage availability, SAN setup and maintenance, VMWare ESX set up, maintenance and troubleshooting, coverage, and training duties for other staff members. SAN maintenance includes managing server and network cabling, updating systems and firmware, managing and provisioning storage pools, volumes, LUNs, and managing performance and security-related issues. Virtualization maintenance includes installing/upgrading/patching hypervisor software, upgrading firmware, managing and provisioning Virtual machines, Virtual distributed switches, datastores and managing performance and security related issues. Additional responsibilities include performing root-cause analysis, troubleshooting, and managing and resolving technical issues.

Bachelor's degree required
At least 5 years of relevant work experience
Demonstrated expertise with at least one enterprise class SAN vendor such as PureStorage, EMC, NetApp
Proven expertise with VMware ESXi, Hypervisor and related management technologies such as vRealize Operations Manager and/or vRealize LogInsight Manager
