The candidate should be a seasoned developer with the ability to work independently and within a small team environment. He/she must possess astute judgment, and be able to ask for assistance when required. The candidate should be able to follow set protocol and structured methodologies. He/she must also have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Work experience in the healthcare industry a plus.
The company is in the early stages of migrating its system from a mainframe environment to a Windows-based RDBMS model, and familiarity with SQL programming would enable the candidate to expand and develop their skill set while getting in on the ground floor of an exciting project.
Required: VAX / Alpha, Open VMS, BASIC, RMS, DCL, Excel, Access and other Microsoft Office Products. Experience with SQL and/or other relational database management systems a plus.
Operating systems: VMS, Microsoft Windows
Additional: Knowledge of Medical, Dental, Drug and/or Worker’s Compensation claims processing a definite plus.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Science or related field, or equivalent work experience. A demonstrated proficiency in Digital Equipment Corporation BASIC programming. Knowledge of the VMS software development environment including the use of VMS editors, compilers, assemblers, linkers and debugging utilities. Experience in developing applications in DEC/VAX BASIC.
