This position, located in the Pittsburgh, Pa. area, is to prototype, design, and build user interfaces (UIs) for web applications. This includes capturing user requirements through collaboration with Product Owners, end users and Project Managers, leading and participating in testing sessions, and executing final implementation of the UI based on feedback and enterprise guidelines. Use of a variety of web and software development languages is required.
Conceive and model user interface prototypes based on collected user requirements, test cases, and development objectives.
Design high-level flow diagrams and UI form charts for use in UI specifications and architectures.
Collaborate with business analysts, web designers, and software developers to ensure prototypes can be efficiently implemented.
Code and debug user interfaces using appropriate tools or editors.
Understand and refine current UI style standards defined in the style guide, as well as remain knowledgeable about emerging UI standards and trends.
Collaborate with software developers to ensure UI changes or additions comply with standards defined in the style guide.
Identify, recommend, and prioritize new user interface features and applications in conjunction with end-user requirements or business needs.
Work with IT Project Managers and Software Engineers to collect and determine user requirements.
Plan and implement usability tests throughout development lifecycle and analyze results for resolving UI-design issues.
Present and conduct reviews of user interface designs with Project Managers, stakeholders, and other involved parties.
Establish policies and procedures for following UI standards design and testing in conjunction with stakeholders.
Conduct research into current and emerging technologies and issues in support of UI development efforts.
Diagnose and troubleshoot problems with proprietary or internally-developed user interfaces.
Document design, testing, and requirements-gathering processes and procedures.
Two (2) years of work experience in a related field, three (3) years of experience preferred
In-depth knowledge of UI prototyping tools, software design, web development technologies, and protocols
Proven experience in human-computer interaction and usability analysis
Thorough understanding of application development methodologies
Knowledge of and experience with AngularJS, JSON, JSP, Java, and SQL (Flex is a plus)
Experience with computer graphic and multimedia design
Proven experience with cross-platform and cross-browser compatibility development issues
Comprehensive experience with structuring, developing, and implementing web applications
Excellent written and technical writing skills
Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills
Highly self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
Ability to conduct research into emerging technologies and programming languages
Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language
Keen attention to detail
Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
Very strong customer service orientation
Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer/Graphic design, or Human-Computer Interaction or equivalent work experience preferred
