All Lines / LANtek is currently seeking a Storage Engineer to join our IT Services consulting and project team. The position provides the opportunity to manage enterprise-class HP 3PAR storage along with virtualization solutions. Responsibilities include customer facing meetings and infrastructure architecture / implementation / deployment / updating / maintenance of storage solutions at customer locations. Working together to evaluate new and emerging technologies, development of standards and procedures, and leading or assisting projects. Mentoring of other engineers as well as assisting design architects will be required as well to keep the group’s knowledge level balanced.
Work within the Server and Storage group in the design, implementation and maintenance of complex solutions.
Deploy, manage and troubleshoot HP storage solutions.
Coordinate activities with other technical groups in the successful delivery of storage projects.
Assist in developing and maintaining standards and recommendations for maximizing system performance.
Perform evaluations using various tools for designing new deployment as well as upgrading and optimizing existing environments.
Assist in developing solutions to deploying and managing hardware and software patches, updates and firmware.
Research new related technologies and services and work with other technical personnel in deploying, testing and documenting these option in a test environment.
Contribute to proof of concept deployments and testing of new technologies as well as upgrades to existing products.
Provide technical leadership to other personnel and mentor the growth of less experienced engineers.
Provide technical support on escalated support requests for non-routine customer technical issues.
Demonstrate the ability to work well under pressure and provide a high level of service.
3-5 years of experience in enterprise storage including, but not limited to, HP 3PAR, MSA and legacy storage systems as well as various other vendor systems such as Dell and WarpMech.
Experience with HP and Brocade fiber SAN switching devices.
Fiber, FCoE and iSCSI SAN networking technologies.
Ability to work cross functionally with other deployment teams in deploying SAN solutions along with other technologies.
Ability to understand and resolve common storage issues.
Ability to present storage to non-virtual systems such as Windows Servers, Linux, Unix, etc.
Ability to document and recommend technical solutions to meet customer requirements.
Excellent verbal/written interpersonal, presentation and customer service skills.
Proficient in core client applications necessary to effectively communicate and document (MS Office, Visio, etc.)
Accurately report progress of assigned tasks; meet commitments and project due dates; effective planning and foresight to mitigate potential delays.
Effectively communicate technical topics with customer, product vendors and management.
Ability to work independently and/or in a team setting, and with a high level of attention to detail.
Ability to manage several project simultaneously and prioritize tasks accordingly
Participate in a rotating 24x7 on-call schedule for escalated customer support.
Work occasional non-business hours in support of infrastructure and application maintenance (outages, upgrades, etc.)
Bachelor's degree in related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
Knowledge and understanding of virtualization technologies.
Knowledge and understanding of blade server networking components.
Candidate will be required to acquire HP Storage MASE certification.
