Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh seeks an experienced, energetic, and collaborative leader for its Human Resources function. The Vice President of Human Resources is a strategic partner supporting Pittsburgh’s largest cultural organization in recruiting, retaining, and developing talent and in maintaining a diverse, rewarding, and mission-centered workplace.
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Developing and implementing human resource strategies, structures, and tools to support the organization’s strategic objectives; lead the human resource staff and direct the overall activity of the human resource department. Plan, organize, and direct all aspects of the human resources function, including employment, compensation, and employee relations and labor relations. Oversee the development, recommendation, and promotion of personnel policies and programs. Provide advice and guidance on the interpretation of personnel policies as they relate to individuals and organization objectives.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Requires bachelor level degree in law, business, organizational psychology, human resources management or related fields and ten or more years work experience with an emphasis on human resources management, strategic planning, and problem solving. Must have professional certification/s (PHR, SPHR, CEBS) or equivalent.
The successful candidate will have a high energy level, be able to balance independent and collaborative work, and show demonstrated commitment to diversity in the workplace. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required, as is the ability to work in a complex and multi-divisional organization. Appreciation for the mission of a not for profit cultural organization is essential.
