The Carnegie Museum of Art (CMOA) seeks an experienced, film projectionist for the showing of film prints in CMOA’s theater and for the inspection of all motion picture film reels before and after screenings.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: The candidate must have a minimum of 1-2 years of experience handling and projecting 16mm and/or 35mm film. Some archival film handling skills are strongly preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: The position requires someone who possesses knowledge in film projection technology, can demonstrate skills in projecting 35mm and 16mm film on changeover projectors, can safely handle archival prints, and pay close attention to the presentation side of exhibiting media. S/he must also have good communication skills and ability to work with a variety of scholars, curators, filmmakers, artists and internal staff to help in the timely implementation of public events.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Candidates must be able to work on evening and weekend shifts for the screenings. They must also be able to carry 40-pound weights if necessary.
