The Keystone Initiative for Network Based Education and Research (KINBER) is seeking a well-organized and self-motivated individual to provide proactive technical support and pre-sales assistance as part of KINBER’s Business Development team. The successful applicant will have a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in high-pressure, deadline-oriented technical environment.
As a Sales Support Engineer, this position will provide proactive technical support and pre-sales assistance as part of KINBER’s Business Development team, including consulting services for the growing set of network based and above the next services provided by KINBER. Both direct and indirect contact with prospective members and end-users is required. The Sales Support Engineer will understand and present the KINBER value proposition along with the PennREN technical service offerings. The ability to perform the discovery necessary to learn the details of a customer environment and provide a strategic direction based on those findings is crucial to the continued growth of the company and its strong presence within the communities KINBER serves. An energetic yet professional image is expected as well as the ability to provide alternative suggestions when situations that require creative solutions. Position reports to the Director of Business Development and works with the KINBER staff statewide.
Specific Responsibilities include:
Be a technology enthusiast while conveying the core products and services of the company.
Become the most valuable resource for the client / customer by developing rapport and relationships with clients at all levels, creating a personal network within the client base.
The ability to analyze cost-benefit ratios of equipment, supplies, or service applications in customer environment; cost engineering changes.
Act as a technical liaison between KINBER’s customers, business development team and its Operations engineers
Point of contact for pre-sales technical issues and provide timely resolution to these issues (phone, email and in person)
Provide support and content to marketing and sales events. Interacting with customers promoting products and KINBER’s brand.
Deliver technical overviews and presentations to clients.
Deliver Visio/Lucidcharts diagrams of proposed solutions and lead white board discussions with clients
Provide technical expertise, training and support to business development team.
Documentation of all new customer systems implementation and initial information for billing purposes.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
Able to fulfill 24×7 support and escalation duties
Other duties as assigned.
The position is full-time with regular hours Monday – Friday. Working conditions are a mix of office, remote, and machine room environments. Candidate must have the ability to lift and carry 40 pounds and the ability to stay at a terminal and use a keyboard and mouse for extended periods. The candidate must have the ability to travel to a variety of sites (Pennsylvania and throughout the US). Periodic weekend or evening work is expected. KINBER is seeking qualified candidates in the Harrisburg or Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania areas. Relocation expenses are not available. Candidate must be eligible to work in the U.S. without restriction.
The individual will have at least 3-5 years of experience, including responsibility for pre-sales technical consulting or solution design, implementation, management, and troubleshooting of IP networking infrastructure. This experience should include a working knowledge of all the components of complex network environments. Technical understanding of items such as routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection and prevention, load balancers, web and database servers, etc. is also needed.
Minimum qualifications for this position include a BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field.
3-5 years of experience, including responsibility for pre-sales technical consulting or solution design, implementation, management, and troubleshooting of IP networking infrastructure.
Experience with Juniper, ADVA, Cisco, Brocade and other network infrastructure products
Demonstrated abilities in network and security architecture and/or deploying network and security related technologies in a complex environment.
Versed in Juniper, Cisco, Microsoft, and Linux based environments a plus.
Ability and desire to learn new skills quickly and adapt to change.
Consultant savvy. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to communicate technology in simple terms to Account Managers and clients.
Technical writing skills to develop detailed SOW’s and RFI responses.
Ability to build strong working relationships with partners, clients and Account Managers.
Solid organizational, communication, and time management skills.
Willing to provide help on critical issues in 24×7 work environment.
Able to accept and give constructive criticism.
Ability to travel – with the majority being day trips in the Pennsylvania area.
