SUMMARY: We are working with a manufacturer of highly customized specialty products to identify a senior level Department Production Manager. Known for high volume and quick turnaround, our confidential client produces and ships product to over 100 countries across the globe. POSITION: Reporting to a Senior Operations Manager, and indirectly to the VP of Manufacturing, the Department Production Manager will be responsible for directing two shifts, with approximately 30 to 40 employees working per shift. The schedule of this position is 7 am - 6 pm, and crosses over the two shifts they will be directing. As a Manager, you will be responsible for holding others accountable in a metric driven production environment, managing the staffing levels based on trends and forecasts, and producing numbers and data as needed. The ideal candidate will be an energetic, tenured, and self-reliant Production Manager with experience overseeing production across a diverse range of manufacturing equipment.
Direct and oversee the flow of work on the production floor.
Balance the labor in the production department to the capacity demanded of each individual area.
Continuously improve the efficiency, effectiveness, and quality standards of the production area.
Monitor departmental and individual performance and provide appropriate feedback, encouragement, and discipline when necessary in order to facilitate department improvements.
Manage employee relations by interviewing, hiring, monitoring absenteeism, tardiness, time cards, etc.
Provide technical support when needed and positive encouragement to the staff at all times.
Train new and existing staff in order to be proficient in all areas of packing and unpacking and work order printing.
Monitor and improve staff morale through positive example and a solution-oriented approach toward problem solving.
Other cross-functional tasks as assigned by Manager.
Minimum of 10 years manufacturing experience required.
Minimum of 5 years Production Management experience required.
Bachelor’s degree preferred; HS diploma and additional, applicable work experience may also be considered.
Experience using an MRP or ERP system.
Ability to work in a fast paced environment and manage multiple tasks and changing priorities is essential.
Must be highly detail oriented and organized with strong follow up skills.
Must be able to pass a pre-employment criminal background check and drug screen.
