As a Microsoft Windows User Experience (UX) Designer, you will be responsible for crafting the visual appearance, interaction behaviors, and activity flows of features in a new software application. You will synthesize customer requirements, business objectives, and technical constraints communicated by stakeholders to generate design proposals that advance UI appeal and usability.
Candidates must have experience with the full user interface design lifecycle for business software applications: from feature conception through wireframe/storyboard iteration and high-fidelity prototyping. Must have a strong ability to make succinct and well-reasoned arguments for designs that benefit users. You must also be able to work closely with software engineers to identify implementation approaches that balance user experience goals with technical cost.
This is a 7 month contract opportunity that has potential to be extended or convert to full time.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders and Software Engineers to make critical design decisions for the UI portion of this exciting a new software product • Develop wireframes and storyboards to facilitate detailed discussions about feature flows and information architecture • Design prototypes for Microsoft Windows user interfaces that demonstrate the appearance and behavior of implemented features • Create and implement dynamic style guides and design standards to drive quality and consistency • Conduct usability testing to identify preferred designs for new features
Candidates will be expected to know the latest MS Windows UX technologies and be able to quickly design a clean, modern UX strategy that will allow: a pleasant end-user experience, initial development and long-term maintenance to be done in a highly productive manner, and allow the UI portion to be tested in an automated fashion.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or closely related field such as Graphic Design, Human Computer Interaction, Industrial Design, etc. • 5+ years of relevant work experience in the area of business software UI design • Expertise in designing UX strategies for MS Windows applications using the latest technologies & techniques. • Knowledge of common design patterns and best practices for MS-Windows applications • Expertise in modern UX design tools, including but not limited to Omnigraffle, Axure, etc. • Highly capable in core design abilities, including composition, typography, and color theory • Expertise with prototyping tools such as Balsamiq Mockups, InVision or equivalent • Deep understanding of UX design principles and methodologies as they relate to software development
Experience with any of the following are a plus, but not required:
• Expertise with image editors such as Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator • Experience with working as part of a Scrum (or other agile methodology) development team • Understanding of front end engineering principles and experience with front end technologies and frameworks
