Carlow University invites applications for the part-time position of Technical Specialist in our Nursing Simulation Center. The Technical Specialist of the Nursing Simulation Center within the College of Health and Wellness is responsible for technology support of all simulation productions. This includes ensuring proper readiness, availability and integration of technical components, operations, video, sound and recording prior to and throughout the operation of simulation productions. This specialist must be able to troubleshoot and monitor equipment and processes, make informed recommendations for needed improvements and upgrades, and be able to effectively manage production events in the Simulation Center.
Provides technical oversight, guidance, and support for faculty, students and staff using the Simulation Center.
Oversees, coordinates, and integrates the sound, video, and other equipment and/or assets, as required for individual simulations.
Works with the Director of the Simulation Center, faculty and others to coordinate and sequence activities, arrange details for simulation technical set up and running.
Is available prior to the scheduled simulation for technical set up and during the simulation to assist with running the technical aspects of the simulation.
Under the direction of the Director of the Simulation Center, oversees and coordinates the troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of equipment and facilities, as well as integrated audio and video systems throughout the Simulation Center and connected classrooms.
Serves as the liaison to the IT Division and follows University Technology policies.
Maintains a preventative maintenance program and recommends improvements and upgrades.
Maintains records and inventory of Simulation Center technical equipment and shares this information with the IT Division.
Provides input into the development of policies, guidelines, and procedures related to simulation activities.
Provides audio and video recording and editing for the Simulation Center activities.
Interacts with vendors to assure the quality of the technical equipment, set up and function
Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
This position will work an approximate minimum of 20 hours/week. Hours may fluctuate semester to semester based upon College of Health and Wellness needs.

Bachelors or Associate Degree
Relevant technical expertise with simulation is preferred
Specialization knowledge of technical aspects of audio, video and technology production with concentration in technical aspects.
Well-developed, informal leadership and organizational skills.
Knowledge of basic electronics, personal computers and software programs.
Requires sufficient communications skills to build harmony among co-workers and convey technical concepts to others.
Ability to work with staff, students, and faculty in stressful, high- pressure situations created by strict deadlines.
Requires the ability to teach and instruct others.
Requires reporting, inventory and record keeping skills.
Must be able to perform the above responsibilities at a high level.
