Job Overview

Principal Activities/Responsibilities
 -Monitor the operation of all operating system platforms running in the data center with limited direct supervision. This may include an IPL of one of the AS400 systems using the operations master console and following documented procedures.
-Monitor online systems running on ZOS/390 to ensure that availability meets the established Service Levels.
-Monitor with limited supervision the batch flow of all scheduling systems in the data center to ensure their respected job schedule is completed within the processing window.
-Follow standard escalation procedures for problem tracking and resolution.
-Contact vendor service personnel when hardware failure demands immediate action.
-React quickly when critical batch schedules fall behind or experience problems. Failure to react can quickly result in lost or delayed orders, ultimately impacting that day's revenue.
-Interact with support personnel on problem resolution.
-Perform Intel based server reboots for node down condition.
-Document new and updated operating procedures in the proper repository.
-Adhere to all IT policies and procedures, including but not limited to safety, quality, and financial goals.
-Inform Shift Lead of problems encountered during shift. Document in the daily journal and verbally turn over to next shift any issues or problems that may have occurred.
-Recommend and implement process/procedure improvements that will increase efficiency or improve consistency of services.
-Perform all hands on tape management activities required.
-Review and process Data Center access requests as required.
-The operator will support Disaster Recovery procedures and testing schedules.

Must have skills
-AS400 OS, plus the ROBOT scheduling System (strong).
-Control M (strong)
-ZOS/390 OS, plus knowledge of TSO/ISPF, Netview, and CA7 scheduling system
-TWS Scheduling System used in the ERP distributed environment
-PC working knowledge

Nice to have skills:
-Installation knowledge of Intel based machine OS and related patches
-Basic Unix/Linux skills
-Microsoft Office: Excel spreadsheets, MS Word, Powerpoint
