Job Overview

Position Summary:
-Responsible for managing and supporting high performance, highly available, and mission critical database platforms at company.
-Company has a heterogeneous database environment consisting primarily of Oracle, SQL Server, and IDMS database platforms.
-Primary responsibilities of this position are managing and supporting the Oracle database platform, the SQL Server database platform, and the IDMS database platform.
-This position will work closely with the business, vendors, external consultants, various application development teams, IT technical support teams, quality assurance team, security team, and operations to develop solutions that solve business problems

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
-Reviews and designs database structures to support business requirements including logical and physical database modeling.
-Installs, configures and maintains database instances, creates various database objects, creates users with appropriate roles and levels of security.
-Recommends and implements database security policies that are consistent with company's security guidelines.
-Recommends and implements database backup and recovery strategies that meet company's recovery and availability requirements.
-Delegates work to other team members, and ensure all work meets requirements and is completed on time.
-Proactively seeks opportunities to improve the environment following established processes and procedures.
-Works independently to perform database performance analysis, capacity planning, system sizing and ongoing maintenance/tuning to ensure maximum performance.
-Recommends best practices and ensures they are implemented and incorporated into DBA procedures.
-Seeks opportunities to utilize new technology to solve technical and business problems.
-Mentors DBA team members and developers, and delegates appropriately.
-Develops and communicates database standards and procedures.
-Provides DBA support and technical expertise for multiple applications in development, test, QA and production environments.
-Works with the business, application development teams, data center and operations teams, vendors and consultants in developing database specifications.
-Troubleshoots and documents database problems and resolutions.
-Proactively work to mitigate risks within the database environment. This includes proactive space management, performance management, and backup and recovery strategies.
-Follows company's PGP, and develops project plans, and other related project documentation as required for assigned projects.
-Leads database projects and manages resources required for successful completion of the project.
-Participates in the 24X7 on-call rotation.
-Works on multiple projects concurrently and adapts to changing priorities
-Develops disaster recovery plans that ensure we meet the disaster recovery requirements of the business.
-Supports all of company's database platforms.
-Project management.
-Preferred Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or IT.
-Strong experience in all aspects of database administration is required.
-7+ years of demonstrated database administration experience
-Good verbal and written communication skills.
-Able to be an effective leader, have good collaborative skills and be effective at implementing, and following established, standards, policies, and procedures.
-Experience working in an enterprise environment.
