General Job Summary
 
The Senior Systems Engineer - Citrix is responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of the strategic design and management of the enterprise Citrix XenApp / XenDesktop environment and various component systems. Responsibilities include the allocation and build out of Citrix XenApp Presentation servers, Provisioning servers, Web Interface, and build out and management of the XenDesktop virtual environment. Additionally, provide third level operational support to the help desk, systems operations center, and fellow team members.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The daily make up of tasks can change depending on department priorities.
•Assist in the development, deployment, and maintenance of the XenApp/XenDesktop environments.
•Maintain a multi-tiered Citrix environment that is highly available with a geographically dispersed user base.
•Assist in building application packages for the XenApp/XenDesktop environments.
•Assist in the installation, evaluation, remediation of applications and tools installed in the XenApp/XenDesktop environment.
•Assist in the implementation and maintenance of user profile management in the XenApp/XenDesktop environment including Group Policy Objects (GPO) and login scripts.
•Assist in the implementation and maintenance of the printing environment within the XenApp/XenDesktop environment using Tricerat Screwdrivers or similar tools.
•Provide third level support to help desk and other IS groups for the Citrix environments.

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities
•Ensure existing and new documentation is constantly updated with current processes and procedures to maintain the infrastructure environment.
•Work with the various Technical Services groups to ensure base server builds (images), OS security fixes, vulnerabilities, are updated and issues resolved.
•Work with Desktop Engineers to ensure workstation standardization and application packaging is maintained and consistent from physical workstations to the XenApp/XenDesktop environment.
•Work with Technical Services team to troubleshoot and enable configuration management with Group Policy Objects (GPO) and login scripts in the Citrix environments.
•Stay current on new industry developments, best practices, and recommendations for the Citrix and related systems and what value they may bring into the environment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
•Minimum 3 to 5 years engineering and administrative knowledge with Citrix XenApp 4.5/5.0 and XenDesktop 2.0/3.0/4.0 including Web Interface and Provisioning servers.
•Knowledge with Citrix EdgeSight for XenApp/XenDesktop, EdgeSight for Load Testing
•Knowledge with Citrix Netscalers, both physical and virtual devices.
•Knowledge of Windows Terminal Server 2003/2008, Active Directory, and Group Policy Objects (GPO)
•Knowledge of profile management using both Citrix and Microsoft tools/solutions.
•Knowledge of Tricerat Screwdrivers or SimplifyPrinting Suite
•Knowledge on Citrix XenServer or VMWare ESX
•Knowledge of Application Packaging using Altris Wise Package Studio, Microsoft App-V, Citrix Streaming, and/or other industry standard tools for Citrix and Windows environments.
•Knowledge of Microsoft SCCM.
•Knowledge of scripting languages such as VBScripts, Powershell, or batch files
•Extensive knowledge of Windows Operating Systems, including registry and file management.
•Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills
•Ability to communicate effectively and interact with diverse personalities
•Requires experience and good judgment to plan and accomplish goals while performing a variety of complicated tasks and leading/directing the work of others.
•Must have strong organizational and multi-tasking skills in order to meet required deadlines in a fast paced work environment.

Experience
•3 - 5 years of Citrix support related experience.

Education
•A baccalaureate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
