Job Overview
Nexstara is a fast growing profitable network design and management startup with over 100% year-over-year growth. We are looking to add a talented and dedicated employee to the team. The ideal candidate would be an extremely customer-focused and organized individual. Job duties range from desktop support, and simple network and server troubleshooting, to assistance with high-tech design of networks and fibre optic storage systems.
Responsibilities:
Maintain IT hardware and software for employees and clients.
Perform manual work in the system room for maintenance.
Work closely with current IT staff.
Complete certifications and develop area of focus.
*If the design and implementations path is taken, employee must be willing to travel nationally.
Requirements:
Familiarity with a wide array of software and operating systems (Linux, Windows, etc.; installing and maintaining all Microsoft OS)
Extensive hardware experience (ability to build, diagnose, and repair computers; strong troubleshooting skills)
Familiarity with computer game software/hardware
Networking experience (intermediate knowledge of Microsoft network environment)
Ability and willingness to lift a minimum of 70 lbs.
24 hour availability in case of emergencies
Ability to work non-standard hours and weekends
Strong mind for security-related issues
Strong written and oral communication skills
Strong customer service skills
Ability to communicate and present complex issues and analyses in an effective manner
Good organization and time management skills
Passion for technology
High level of dependability
Pluses:
Intermediate to advanced knowledge of network routing technologies (TCP/IP, DNS, WINS, management of NT/AD domains)
Intermediate knowledge of *nix in a networking environment
Hands-on experience with Cisco switches and routers
Script language such as Perl and other shell script for system admin / network programming work
