Job Overview

This position will participate in the design, development, launch and maintenance of products by providing engineering expertise and technical support. Support will be focused on but not limited to disciplines in the field of software engineering. Requirements for this position include creativity, excellent problem solving ability, high performance in a project team environment and a detailed focus on the technical excellence of designs and engineering solutions.


Essential Functions:

  • Provide engineering support for product designs including but not limited to review and refinement of product requirements, creation of system architectures, generation of software requirements, engineering calculations and analysis, and embedded and electronic component selection.

  • Possess knowledge of the practices of structured design in a medical product development environment, including knowledge of the product development process, documentation practices and drawing standards, design history file content, scientific testing and measurement practices, and record keeping requirements.

  • Possess a working knowledge of international and domestic product safety requirements. Responsible to keep abreast of the latest trends and technologies related to RFID and RF at large, attending conferences, seminars and trade shows as new information becomes available.

  • Establish, schedule and manage activities related to the efforts under their immediate control, and provide feedback to supervisors, team mates and other members of management on a timely basis. Manage outside consultants and contractors related to software development and software support.

  • Supervise less senior members of the engineering staff, including the direct supervision of designers and technicians assigned to them during projects.

  • Demonstrate customer focus, cross functional collaboration/teamwork skills and building and leveraging partnership skills.

  • Possess excellent written, persuasion and consensus building, listening and verbal communication skills.

  • Maintain the ability to work in cross functional teams with minimal supervision while completing tasks assigned by a systems or project engineers, program managers, etc.

Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering or Electrical Engineering. Strong working knowledge of C/C++, or other software packages. Must have at least 5 years of embedded development experience. Familiarity of the latest rapid prototype tools and methods for software development. Strong time management skills and the ability to juggle multiple tasks. Must be able to work well with peers, subordinates and in a team environment. Must understand and support the principles of software configuration management and formal change management.
