Job Overview
Plextronics seeks a Director of Product Engineering to provide leadership in the design and commercialization of organic based photovoltaic devices using Plextronics proprietary inks and ink systems.
The Director’s responsibilities will include the following:
• Managing a team of 5-10 technical professionals including chemists, physicists and engineers. This includes working closely with Test Engineering, Business Development, Pilot Manufacturing and Technology;
• Work with executive management to develop roadmaps and other strategic plans as well as budgets for headcount, CAPEX and OPEX;
• As a key member of the technical executive staff, represent Plextronics as the subject matter expert in Product Engineering;
• Translate the Product Roadmap and corresponding Marketing Specifications into engineering specifications, project plans, product designs, prototypes and alpha units that have a clear path to meeting cost, performance and reliability requirements;
• Focus on optimizing cost, performance and lifetime through innovative designs and through balancing the trade-offs between these key metrics;
• Travel 25%.
The successful candidate will have the following:
• M.S. in Chemical, Electrical, Materials or Mechanical Engineering. Ph.D. is a plus;
• A total experience of at least 15 years of which at least 5 years were spent managing complex product design projects in a challenging and frequently evolving environment;
• At least 10 years of thin film product development in one or more of these industries: semiconductors, flat panel displays, photovoltaics, MEMs or nanotechnology;
• Experience in designing monolithic PV devices is a plus;
• Experience with organic electronics (OLED, OPV, OFET) which were produced with high volume processes while using solvent delivery systems and/or formulated inks, is a major plus;
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills are a must.
