Our High Voltage Switchgear Division is the flagship business at Mitsubishi Electric Power Products, Inc. for over the past 30 years. We are seeking an ambitious and driven person to join our High Voltage Switchgear team as a Principal Engineer. In this role, you will perform engineering activities for the design, manufacture, assembly, test, installation, and servicing of locally produced (LAV) gas circuit breakers. Perform design localization of Mitsubishi Electric Power Products, Inc. (MELCO) designed products.
The successful candidate will have the following experience:
Experience with engineering design leadership in product development.
Experience in circuit breaker or power transmission design.
Experience with designing a product to IEEE and/or IEC standards. Experience with testing a product to IEEE and/or IEC standards.
Experience specifically with dielectric withstand testing and high power testing.
Experience with leading issue resolution during prototype testing.
Duties and Responsibilities of the Principal Engineer include:
Provide engineering leadership and technical consultation to all departments of the High Voltage Switchgear Division (HVSD) by serving as the primary contact person for product design, manufacture, installation and service.
Lead significant engineering projects involving participation and coordination with other groups. Review and define the scope of engineering projects. Establish priority, schedule and staffing assignments with managers.
Represent the Company to customers and MELCO personnel.
Conduct customer and employee training for HVSD’s products and technology.
Consult on and/or review HVSD development programs and plans.
Provide technical information concerning assembly, testing techniques, materials, properties and processes which affect long range plant and product engineering planning.
Support Sales with customer technical specifications and exceptions, customer presentations, and contract negotiations involving technical issues.
Define, review, develop and issue SOPs and required design practices and standards.
Design and develop gas circuit breakers and components for local manufacture in cooperation with Itami Works.
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in a design engineering capacity, or equivalent education and experience.
Advanced knowledge of circuit breaker technology, design and power transmission.
Advanced interpersonal, communication and presentation skills required to communicate with customers, employees and suppliers.
Ability to work in a team environment and on several projects simultaneously.
Ability to read, understand and create technical drawings and material.
Advanced analytical and problems solving skills.
Advanced computer knowledge, with emphasis on MS Office products, CAD software, and ERP/MRP systems.
Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to
20% as required.
