A Mechanical Drafter I is an important member of the IV Solutions Engineering group. This role interfaces with hardware engineers in the group to create or modify 2D drawings and 3D models of components used in IV Solutions products. This role may also provide support for CAD system administration and PDM activities such as BOM generation and management. The Mechanical Drafter 1 may also assist in prototype assembly and testing so a strong general mechanical aptitude is required to excel in this position. Most importantly, the Mechanical Drafter I exhibits the desire and ability to collaborate and excels in teamwork and communications.
Responsible for creating and modifying detailed mechanical designs and drawings using Solidworks.
Participates in product concept meetings, design reviews, and product release/design transfer process.
Work closely with Engineering and other cross-functional teams to create electrical and/or mechanical design/documentation packages from ideas, rough sketches, redline drawings and/or notes for new product development as well as improvements/revisions to current products.
Responsible for providing design support to Engineering for research, concept, prototype and alpha level product development and/or support efforts.
Responsible for assisting Engineering and other cross-functional teams with fabricating, assembling, and testing of large-scale electromechanical robotic systems.
Required Knowledge and Skills
3D modeling/designing experience with Solidworks.
Strong mechanical aptitude
Familiarity with basic manufacturing processes such as machining, sheet metal fabrication, and injection molding.
Ability to work with Engineering and other cross-functional teams to develop detailed models and drawings from ideas, rough sketches, redline drawings and notes for new product developments as well as improvements/revisions to current products.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
The candidate must be highly motivated to work in a fast-paced environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Familiarity with various rapid prototyping methods such as; FMD, SLS, SLA, DLMS, rapid machining, urethane casting
2 year Associates Degree in Mechanical and/or CAD technology field
1+ years of professional experience
Coursework in Solidworks
Certification in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (ASME Y14.5)
