The Senior Systems Engineer reports to the Manager, DevOps and calls for someone who has the necessary hard and soft skills required to overcome the traditional barriers between software development, testing and operations teams. This will involve providing Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery solutions which align with established System Development Life Cycles as well as administering and deploying tools to support these functions.
Location: Pittsburgh, PA, Office Based
Includes, but not limited to, planning, systems analysis, design, scripting, database administration, and documentation.
Design and deploy highly-available, scalable solutions for new and existing services.
Automate configuration and deployment of Linux systems and cloud infrastructure components.
Contribute to software build/release automation.
Support production infrastructure and development operations.
Collaborate with other teams to resolve complex issues.
Research, implement, and document new tools and processes.
Act as an escalation point for support departments in resolving internal and client-facing issues.
Participate in weekly on-call rotation.
Compliance with Juvare policies.
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Information Systems or related field.
5+ years’ experience in a Systems Engineer role.
Ability to safely and successfully perform essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
Skills/ Knowledge Requirements:
Ability to code and script (shell, PHP, Python, Perl, etc.).
Deep knowledge of Linux operating system.
Previous experience in CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Bamboo, TeamCity, Codeship, Semaphore).
Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
Advanced database management skills.
Strong understanding of 3-tier application infrastructure, DNS, and basic networking topics.
Solid ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Exceptional attention to detail.
Excellent ability to remain calm, positive and focused on solutions during system challenges.
Superior ability to work with company stakeholders across functional teams and management levels.
Exposure to AWS and Microsoft Azure, a plus.
Knowledge of VMware ESXi and vSphere, a plus.
Familiarity with containers and container orchestration engines, a plus.
Interest in DevOps tools, methodologies, and culture, a plus.
Previous Software or Release Engineering experience, a plus.
