SUMMARY We are working with a manufacturer located in the greater Pittsburgh area to identify a Sr. Payroll Analyst. This company has experienced recent growth, currently employs over 1K employees across multiple states, and this position is newly created as part of that growth. In summary, the Sr. Payroll Analyst must have in depth knowledge of payroll wage and hour laws, federal, state, local tax laws as well as familiarity with all types of pre and post-tax benefits, 401K plans, and HSA. They will be responsible for auditing and validating data in the payroll, time keeping, and HR system, identifying, and implementing payroll workflows and efficiencies while establishing best payroll practices, completing projects, and contributing to the overall effectiveness and continuous improvement of data integrity and the payroll operation.

POSITION Fundamental Duties: Payroll • Oversees the processing of payroll cycles for exempt and non-exempt employees in a complex, multi-state environment. • Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation and enforces adherence to requirements. • Researches and resolves complex employee tax issues to ensure accurate employee tax withholding and quarter/ annual tax filing. • Monitors and communicates changes to federal, state or local tax code to ensure system updates are completed and managers/employees are notified of potential impact to paychecks. • Performs pre and post audits. • Creates payroll checklist and verifies all steps are completed each pay period. • Investigates and resolves payroll discrepancies with a root-cause focus. • Performs quarterly and year-end audits. • Maintains payroll guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures. Benefits • Works closely with the benefits team to ensure deductions are being processed properly. • Advises on tax set-up for imputed income. • Participates in the 401(k) administration for multiple plans. • Works with vendors to perform Nondiscrimination Testing and filing 5500s. HRIS • Performs system-related set up and configuration changes in payroll. • Ensures the integrity of HR and payroll data within company systems through proficient use of various reporting tools, data auditing methodology, and advanced knowledge of system and data elements. • Identifies inconsistencies or missing information and coordinates with other teammates to ensure correction and prevent future errors.
BASE REQUIREMENTS • Degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Finance, and/or HR, or equivalent years of experience, highly preferred. • 3-5+ years of prior payroll administration in a multi-state is required. • Specific payroll processing experience using a complex HRIS for a multi-state employer is required. • Fluency with tax withholding requirements based on employee work and resident locations, including remote-based workers. • Computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and particularly strong Excel skills. • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, organizational skills, and a strong attention to detail. • Relentless drive to identify the root of a problem or process failure. • Must be able to pass a pre-employment criminal background check and drug screen.
DESIREABLES: • Experience running Canadian or another international payroll. • Experience handling expat and inpat payroll and taxation arrangements.
