Overview: Management Science Associates, Inc. (MSA) is a diversified information management company that for half a century has provided market leaders with a competitive edge in data management, analytics, and technology. We are currently seeking a highly motivated Associate Business Analytics Manager for our Business Analysis division. A core requirement for the position is the ability to develop detailed analytical models and subsequently translate the model results into business implications. Statistical packages such as SAS and R are utilized for data processing, manipulation, and integration as well as for model development. Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint are used extensively to convey analytical results. Frequent client interaction, both written and verbal, will be required; therefore strong communication skills and the ability to build client relationships are a must. Clients span a range of industries including fast moving consumer goods, health and beauty, and pharmaceuticals.
Use advanced statistical techniques such as predictive modeling, latent variable modeling, partitioning methods, bootstrapping, etc. to resolve complex client issues. Create and maintain client models, forecasts and reporting. Lead and participate in client interactions.
Conduct independent and collaborative analytical work on client projects led by higher-level team members
Develop and maintain efficient analytical code and documentation to manipulate large datasets and conduct statistical analysis
Test and debug analytical code. Lead efforts to resolve unexpected problems resulting from unusual data and from limitations inherent in software applications and data processing resources.
Interpret and translate analytical results into business implications that resonate with clients using a variety of techniques ranging from simple data aggregation to complex data mining and modeling, with minimal guidance from higher-level division members
Oversee data analytics for small projects or portions of a larger project and manage client relationships for assigned projects. Actively participate in client presentations
Develop in-depth understanding of client's product and marketing environment. Identify solutions to client problems
Mentor, train and guide lower level staff
May lead teams and assist with management responsibilities of lower level staff including, but not limited to, performance management and salary administration. May provide direct management of one or more interns.
Assist division management in sales efforts, such as preparing materials and performing research, and in writing client proposals
Bachelor's degree in Quantitative Analytics, Business Analytics, Math, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science or related discipline, or equivalent experience. MBA or relevant Master's degree may substitute for up to one year of related experience. PhD may substitute for up to 5 years of experience depending on discipline.
Minimum five years of related experience performing analytical problem solving within market research, data analytics, computer science, or related field
Knowledge of statistics, mathematics, marketing principles and current business trends
Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem solving, and data management skills. Proficient with statistical methods, models, and analytics.
Knowledgeable of different quantitative research techniques to be applied to client issues
Organized with effective time management skills and the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
Highly detail-oriented, with an eye for quality standards
Innovative and proactive in solving client problems and identifying process improvements
Strong communication skills, both written and oral, coupled with highly developed interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with clients in a professional manner
Advanced Microsoft office skills including MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint, MS Explorer and MS Outlook calendar and email
Advanced knowledge of analytical programming and statistical packages
Problem solving skills with the ability to maintain an open mind and think creatively about problems and their resolution
