The Project Manager (PM) is responsible for the timely delivery of a high-quality system that satisfies the business objectives. The PM uses the Project Management Process to direct the project from the initial Discovery phase through a successful Launch. This involves ensuring the timely and accurate creation of all project documentation by working with managers and individuals across the organization. The PM creates, maintains and tracks detailed project execution plans. The PM proactively identifies and immediately addresses all issues or risks impacting successful project completion.
This position provides vision, direction and motivation to the project team. The Project Manager works closely with the entire IT team interacting frequently with key IT leadership.
What Will You Do?
Lead the project team through all phases of the Project Management Process.
Coordinate production of detailed project plans specifying the project’s technical scope, goals, objectives, staffing requirements, risks, technical materials, and allocation of resources.
Regularly report overall project status to management and key stakeholders, escalating major issues as necessary.
Ensure the project progresses per the schedule by directing and coordinating the activities of project team members.
Facilitate identification of project risks/issues and creative approaches to issue resolution and problem solving.
With other project leaders, provide a vision and motivation to the project team.
Maintain a project repository of historical and current project information.
Facilitate team meetings and other day-to-day activities as required by the team
Ensure the team is fully functional, cooperating and productive.
Shield team from external interferences and remove obstacles.
Administer and manage business relationships with the project’s external consultants and third parties ensuring they meet their project obligations.
Suggest and implement improvements to the Project Management Process, IT organizational processes and project management tools.
What Skills Do You Need?
We are seeking Project Managers that have 4+ years of experience managing software projects and some formal project management training or certification. The person should have a proven history of successful project delivery and have experience with different types of software methodology (Scrum, Kanban, Waterfall, Iterative).
These additional technical or behavioral skills are required:
Proficient with project planning and tracking tools such as VSTS, Trello, MS Project, etc.
Dedication to creating and maintaining project documentation and information in a Project Repository with tools such as OneNote, SharePoint or another similar tool.
Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills as well as highly effective communication skills.
Ability to follow established processes – willingness to help improve processes and mentor others.
