Duties and Responsibilities:
The Clinical Information Management (CIM) department is responsible for the management of all patient records, integrity of the corresponding database information, and release of results to physicians on behalf of Helomics’ Medical Director. The Clinical Information Analyst will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:
Review pathology and/or cytology reports and extrapolate data for entry into the electronic database.
ICD-9 / ICD-10 coding.
Verification of information fidelity in the specimen medical record and the electronic database.
Quality control assessment of test results.
Review information relating to the correlation of test results and final reports.
Preparing, proofing, and releasing test results to physicians in a report format.
Facilitate communications with physician offices and facilities to obtain required patient information, including orders, consent forms, and ABNs
Identification and implementation of process improvements to streamline workflow and improve quality control measures.
Effective interaction with intra-departments to ensure all required, vital information and documentation is acquired in a timely manner.
Effectively and professionally communicate with customers and assist with outreach efforts as required
Clinical Lab Support as needed and not limited to: Biorepository functions, Regulatory Audit support, Sample Accessioning and Receiving.
Bachelor’s degree in Medical Records Science, Health Information Management or similar discipline required.
Certified or eligible for certification RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or CTR. Must maintain certified status.
If eligible for certification – must gain certification within 90 days of hire
Previous positions in a clinical laboratory or hospital setting preferred.
Familiarity with medical records, tumor registry and ICD-9 / ICD-10 coding.
Experience with oncology, pathology and/or radiology departments.
Effective problem-solver with an ability to make sound decisions.
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and accurate.
Ability to follow instructions and management direction.
Productive – ability to consistently meet deadlines or ahead of schedule.
Well-developed, effective communication skills.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Tools.
