SUMMARY We are working with a growth oriented, progressive, non-union steel producer with a reputation for world class standard and unsurpassed corporate culture to identify a Metallurgist. This is a newly created position due to the construction of a new facility that will focus on producing products used in aerospace and power generation oil & gas industries.
POSITION Reporting to a Director of Technical Services, the Metallurgist will provide technical support to the sales department and customers for all phases of steel operations, ensuring strong quality procedures are in place, overseeing trials of new materials and processes to ensure quality, and providing metallurgical support to management. • Improving process and product to meet customer requirements. • Providing technical support for all phases of steel operations including melting, teeming and annealing steel ingots. • Assisting Operations in the Remelt Department, as needed. • Ensuring that Operations follows sound metallurgical practices. • Overseeing investigation and disposition of non-conforming material. • Performing failure investigations on customer returns/claims. • Instructing the Sales department by providing technical guidance and creation/revision of grades to meet customer needs. • Providing quality training to employees.
BASE REQUIREMENTS • Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy or Material Science. • Minimum 2 years’ experience with steel processes/products. • Practical Remelt experience highly desired. • Must be able to pass a pre-employment criminal background check and drug screen.
