Essential Duties and Responsibilities The Welder utilizes argon/oxygen welding tools to assemble products according to blueprints and knowledge of welding and metallurgy. The worker prepares the equipment and welds the parts while continually monitoring the quality of the product throughout the process. The individual is also responsible for maintaining the work area to facilitate production activities.
• Adhere to all safety requirements and protocols. • Read work instructions and/or blueprints to confirm production/assembly information and pieces have been tacked correctly. • Interpret drawings to determine weld symbols. • Perform finish welds to complete assembly. • Detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions to the Team Leader or member of the Management Team. • Complete job requirements with minimal supervision. • Use conventional and precision measuring instruments. • Accurately document applicable job, product and quality information utilizing computer and paper documents as required. • Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition. • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment and tools as required/requested. • Focus on quality and speed, performing all tasks with a sense of urgency toward excellence. • Other duties as assigned by the Team Leader and Management Team.

Reports to: Welding Team Leader and Assistant Team Leader, Shift Supervisor (where applicable), and Production Manager
Physical demands: The physical demands of the position are at a heavy level with occasional to frequent lifting/carrying of 75 to 100 pounds. Job duties are primarily performed from a standing position.
Modification of the job duties is possible depending upon the transitional physical capabilities of the worker. Modified duty can be made for a limited period of time.
Lifting: Performed as a part of some work activities. Amounts lifted may range from 1 to 100 pounds. Lifting 1 to 100 pounds may occur on a frequent basis (5 or more times per hour). Carrying of 1 to 50 pounds will occur on an occasional basis.
Carrying: Performed as part of some work activities. Amounts carried may range from 1 to 100 pounds. Carrying may be performed from 1 to 25 feet. Carrying of up to 100 pounds may occur on a frequent basis (5 or more times per hour). Carrying of 1 to 50 pounds will occur on an occasional basis.
Walking: Performed as a part of most duties. At any one time worker may walk up to 100 feet. Walking is performed throughout the workday on a frequent basis.
Standing: Most work activities are accomplished from a standing position. Standing occurs on a frequent basis to constant basis.
Sitting: A few duties can be performed from a seated position. Sitting may be performed on a rare basis.
Bending: Bending will be performed as part of most work activities. Bending may occur from the waist and at the knee and may occur on an occasional to a frequent basis during a workday
Stooping: Stooping may be performed at the choice of the worker, usually on a rare basis.
Twisting/Turning: Twisting/turning is performed during most work activities. May twist and/or turn occasionally to frequently in an eight-hour workday.
Reaching: Reaching is performed as part of most work activities. May reach frequently to constantly throughout the workday. Most reaching is at shoulder level or lower, but above shoulder reaching may occur on an occasional basis.
Pushing/Pulling: Pushing/pulling is performed as part of some work activities. May push and/or pull occasionally to frequently in an eight-hour workday.
Crawling: Activity may be performed at the choice of the worker on a rare basis.
Kneeling: Kneeling may be performed by the worker on a rare basis.
Climbing: May climb onto and off of the work table. Climbing may be performed on a rare basis throughout the shift.
Driving: Driving is not required for the completion of work activities.
Work is performed inside the plant, but employees are exposed to seasonal and welding temperatures.
Minimum of a high school diploma and preferably formal training/certification in welding Must receive AWS D1.1 certification within initial 6 months of employment Working knowledge of wire and filler materials applications for various steel alloys, aluminum, and some exotic materials
Knowledge of fixtures and weld set up parameters such as amps, volts, etc. One year of experience welding - preferably in a fabrication shop Must be familiar with all machines required to perform the tasks stated above Ability to operate welding tools
