Expedient's Product Strategy team is hiring an IT Systems Engineer in Pittsburgh, PA. Our Product Strategy team partners with various cross-functional Expedient teams to collaborate and test out the viability of different technologies for our clients. The successful candidate will be knowledgeable in a broad range of technical applications, with an emphasis on cloud computing (IaaS, PaaS), virtualization (including a deep knowledge of the fundamentals of VMware ESXi), networking, and security.
This position requires someone with great interpersonal skills, strong documentation skills, and a desire to explore new possibilities for advancing technology. A strong understanding of system architecture with an emphasis on VMware technologies also is a must. This position will travel approximately 10% of the time.

Your Role as an IT Systems Engineer at Expedient:

VMware and related technology design and implementation with a focus on resiliency and scalability of architectures
Lead infrastructure design for public/private cloud environments (hosts, storage, and switching/routing/firewall)
Evaluate new technologies and create alpha/beta releases, and determine viability and suitability of existing technologies
Create innovative solutions to solve technology and business challenges/needs
Produce documentation of use cases, business and technical solutions, and overall technology concepts—and write reference architecture papers to explain how Expedient products can be used to solve specific business challenges
Present to and solicit feedback from sales, marketing and operations teams
Ability to prioritize and be productive in high-pressure situations, providing timely status updates to internal customers
VMware ESXi design and implementation experience
Experience with network security standards and in network administration, including a strong understanding of internet/IP-related technologies, OSI model, basic routing and firewalling (VMware NSX or Juniper strongly preferred)
Experience working with technologies like Windows and Linux server management, IDS, IPS, encryption and identity management
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and strong troubleshooting ability
Ability to influence stakeholders about adopting new technology, solutions improvements, and updates to existing technology
Ability to successfully complete pre-employment drug screen
Experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
An understanding of VMware NSX and software-defined storage
Knowledge of scripting languages like PowerCLI, PowerShell, VBScript, Python
Industry certifications from VMware, Juniper, Microsoft, etc. (such as the JNCIA, VCP, MCSE)
SAN administration experience, and understanding of concepts such as RAID
Experience with Intel-based servers / iSCSI/SAS storage arrays
Experience working with industry compliance frameworks, such as HIPAA and PCI-DSS
Bachelor of science degree in a technical discipline
Additional experience that will benefit the candidate will include, but is not limited to, Cisco iOS, Juniper OS and Dell Compellent SC and Dell Equal logic PS Series SAN platforms
