The Systems Administrator is responsible for the primary day-to-day administration, operations, and maintenance of institution enterprise systems. This individual will be the lead technician for LMS administration, as well as other instructional technology resources. This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the enterprise systems. This individual ensures that system hardware, operating systems, and enterprise systems provide excellent support to the students, faculty, and staff. The position is also responsible for testing, upgrades, troubleshooting, and system training. Evening and/or weekend availability is required.

Manage the day-to-day operations of enterprise systems such as the LMS and others with making every effort to ensure customer satisfaction.
Perform system upgrades and updates in an effort to keep systems current and secure.
Monitor and coordinate responses to all Level 1 and 2 support issues and provide training and guidance to IT Help Desk staff in addressing these issues.
Perform daily system monitoring to verify the integrity and availability of systems and key processes.
Collaborate with the Network Administrator to ensure the institution’s systems are optimized and prepared for disaster recovery.
Participate in the creation, modification, and deletion of system user accounts.
Create, edit, and monitor course updates in the learning management systems.
Administer and diagnose system hardware, software and operator problems. Recommend or perform remedial actions to correct problems based on knowledge of system operations.
Research/troubleshoot compatibility of web based applications in various Operating Systems, Browsers, and software.
Proactively identify, develop and maintain supplemental user documentation, trainings, and supplemental resources, as needed. Provide assessment reports.
Maintain operational, configuration and other departmental procedures. Perform periodic system performance reporting.
Manage and configure computer and software upgrades through the use of Microsoft System Center Configuration manager (SCCM).
Maintain vendor relationships and coordinate issue resolution by communicating clearly and effectively with vendors.
Complete special projects related to learning management systems and perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required to satisfactorily perform the essential duties and responsibilities.
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s degree, with a technical major, such as engineering, computer science, or instructional technology. Industry certifications along with previous experience administering and managing enterprise level instructional software applications is preferred.
Skills and Knowledge:
Proven knowledge of online e-learning platforms (LMS), preferably Blackboard.
Working knowledge of server administration including Windows and/or Linux.
Database administration of a relational database including SQL Server, Oracle or MySQL.
Proven Knowledge of Microsoft SCCM.
Knowledge in the configuration and use of multiple browser platforms.
Working knowledge of the configuration of client operating systems including Windows, Mac, and Linux desktops.
Working knowledge of mobile devices including iPhones, Android phones, Windows phones, iPads, Android tablets, Chrome Books and others.
Strong understanding and demonstrable experience with application software used college wide including the Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Suite.
Demonstrated ability to perform needs analysis as required in the development of instructional designs.
Experience with multimedia authoring tools and learning management systems; experience with developing multimedia materials for varied audiences.
Demonstrated problem solving, communication and teamwork skills, including the ability to work with a wide range of users with varying levels of technical expertise.
