The Applications Support Analyst has responsibility for development, support, training and integration of the various software applications of the University. This includes enterprise resource planning (ERP)/Student Information System (SIS) applications, ancillary business software, data management, engaging use of cloud-based services and integrations with academic software. In conjunction with other team members, this position is critical to the strategic success in the optimal use of software in alignment with business needs and the University’s goals. Often called a programmer or developer, an applications analyst has a deep technical understanding of software, data and integration of services as they serve and optimize business processes. With regard to prioritization, 60% of the incumbent’s time will be spent directly supporting/training on the ERP/SIS software with the remaining time in support, training and integration of ancillary applications. This position has responsibility to understand the underlying technologies of the software and the ability to configure or program software to meet business needs. The incumbent will be actively engaged in business analysis activities to align technology with strategic goals of the University.
Serve as a programmer/developer supporting the University’s Application Ecosystem including:
Build data integrations across the array of enterprise applications and software to keep information current in the variety of databases
Train and assist campus
Participate in research, analysis, proposals and implementations of solutions to improve business processes and functions
Manage account creation and security access permissions within the ecosystem
Demonstrate and reflect an understanding of and commitment to the mission and core values of Carlow University and the Sisters of Mercy.
We seek an individual with the following qualifications/experience:
Minimum of five years in applications support and development, including
Five years technical knowledge and experience in application development and support
Three years of experience in supporting development, enhancement and modification of large, enterprise-wide relational/ERP systems
Two years utilizing effective processes and protocol for software change control, account management and data integrations.
Experience developing in Ellucian/Datatel Colleague or other higher-ed specific ERP/SIS
Experience building data integrations
Experience in reporting functions
Required: An associate degree in a technology-related field such as Computer Science, Information Science, Business Management or comparative work experience.
Required: Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
Required: Ability to relate and communicate in a positive way to the many constituencies of the University.
Required: Knowledge of relational database and data warehousing concepts
Required: Strong understanding of relationship of software to optimizing business process in providing service to customers.
Required: Solid working experience in programming, scripting and development in any combinations of ASP.net, SQL, PERL, C#, C++ and/or JAVA
