This position's primary focus is in the areas of computer operations, computer repair, wire and cable installation, user and desktop support (hardware and software), help desk, and data management.
Works independently with minimal supervision and updates supervisor on status of projects and technical issues. Exercises judgment and creativity in selecting and applying procedures correctly, and determines when to refer problems to the supervisor or the next level of support.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Specific duties include: - Workstations (Microsoft PCs), network services, fax servers and printers - Setup, install, configure and deploy new workstations as needed (including workstation relocations within the office complex) - Perform basic Active Directory and Exchange administration (Add/remove users/PCs/Mailboxes as needed) - Perform moves, adds, changes as needed to our phone system - Perform basic network wiring tasks as needed (Test and patch data jacks) - Monitor and maintain company data backups (Barracuda) - Assist in inventory management - Assist in patch management Troubleshooting: - Assist in resolving basic to complex issues with infrastructure and applications, working with application development teams and vendors - Monitor issue research through to resolution escalating to supervisor when applicable Team Interfaces: - Establish and maintain a professional relationship with team members and department contacts - Develop an excellent working relationship with internal contacts - Cooperate with team members to meet goals or complete tasks - Respond to requests for infrastructure reports or other information - Escalate work flow and communication issues to supervisor
EDUCATION AND/OR WORK EXPERIENCE:
- Associate’s degree or higher in Computer Network Management or equivalent curriculum - Proficiency in Windows desktop platforms and applications - Working knowledge of SQL Server and DBMS platforms - Working knowledge of Windows Server 2003 & 2008 (incl. DNS, DHCP, NTFS File Permissions, & Windows File Sharing - Proficiency in network infrastructure - Networking certification or equivalent experience preferred - Fast learner, ability to multi-task, and strong work ethic - Must work well both as a team player & independently
