The Procurement Specialist will procure materials for distributed and manufactured items from KJLC qualified suppliers at lowest cost while maintaining the highest quality and efficiency. This person will take a proactive approach in sourcing suppliers, negotiating price, delivery, quality, terms and conditions. They will also be responsible for outside processing and sub-contractacted parts
Key Job Elements:
Create and issue purchase orders to satisfy sales order, production order, and stocking requirements.
Evaluate stocking levels based on historical transactions and sale forecasts to minimize the inventory required to satisfy customers.
Maintain the accuracy of the purchase order delivery dates and communicate with downstream departments as needed.
Negotiate with new and existing suppliers to create the best situation for KJLC including product price, lead time, quality, and packaging.
Evaluate buying strategies and business opportunities for assigned product groups to develop the best total cost solution. Total costs include product costs, warehousing costs, transportation costs, duty, quality costs, payment and delivery terms, and cost of obsolescence.
Negotiate and maintain Supplier contracts
Maintain supplier tier system and schedule supplier visits.
Perform vendor onsite audits, inspections, and negotiations.
Deliver performance feedback to the suppliers regarding quality, on-time deliveries, and customer service satisfaction.
Manage supplier performance and track supplier metrics.
Coordinate Supply Chain efforts with associated Product Managers Deliveries, and/or Material Control to maximize value to KJLC.
Utilize inventory management and purchasing programs where possible.
Maintain the item master for assigned products, particularly the purchase price, cost price, trade agreements, and lead time fields.
Obtain quotes for subcontracted parts and services for both live orders and customer quotes as needed.
Maintain storage of CofA’s for material purchased.
Work with Deliveries and Project Management to determine best solution when making make or buy decisions.
Maintain Supplier lead time information on SOW quote sheet
Knowledge of material, component and service suppliers to the vacuum industry
Minimum 5 years’ experience in Purchasing in a high-tech/ manufacturing procurement environment
Ability to read blueprints and good mathematical aptitude
Working knowledge of purchasing techniques including RFQs, blanket orders and product demand discounts that improve strategic costing capabilities
Experience determining best supplier based on quality, delivery, cost, and lead time
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management or a related discipline
Knowledge and use of price and cost analysis
Strong negotiation skills
Ability to use software such as the Microsoft Office Suite
Working knowledge of quality assurance philosophies, practices, and techniques
Must have good organizational, multitasking and leadership skills
Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
Experience with computerized purchasing and scheduling systems (Microsoft Dynamics a plus)
Advanced computer skills, including PC knowledge, Microsoft Office Suite, and ability to learn new software
