The Welder will layout, cut, fit, tack, and weld various assemblies using the gas tungsten arc process. They will verify that fabrications meet required drawing tolerances and complete in-process inspection reports. Examples of items that would be welded are: box chambers, spherical chambers, cylindrical chambers, bell jars, service wells, half and full nipples, all sizes of tees, adapters, gas fittings and adapters.

Adhering to processes of records, welding procedures.
Ability to operate under the strictest of cleanliness requirements
Read and understand moderately complex blueprints for such items as box and cylindrical chambers
Understand most weld symbols
Ability to find drawing errors and present them to the welding supervisor for completion of a drawing feedback form
Ability to layout, position, and secure parts and assemblies to meet drawing requirements, using straightedges, squares, angle plates, blocks, clamps and pointers
Above average knowledge of measuring tools such as calipers, rulers, and feeler gages, and pi tapes and knows when to use them to verify dimensions within a decimal tolerance range
Fit, tack, and weld box and cylindrical chambers with consistently good results
Prepare and complete moderately difficult data sheets with minimal assistance
Good understanding of the Gas Tungsten Arc process including correct tungsten type, size, gas type, flow rate, and correct amperage range
High School Diploma or GED
Solid understanding of mathematics, and the ability to read mechanical drawings
Minimum 12 months of on the job experience using the GTAW process or equivalent
Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs.
Certificate from a vocational or trade school and/or junior or community college
Completion of an accredited welding apprenticeship program
