SUMMARY We are currently working with a leading manufacturer to identify a Quality Director. This organization is a subsidiary of a whole owned group, that still offers the family feel of working for a location of approximately 120 employees, but with the benefits of a well-respected, international corporation with sales offices across the globe, as well as an integrated source for materials from start to finish.
The Quality Director will have a people management background, and manage a quality manager and a lab supervisor. This is a hands on working management level position, and will assist in managing indirect reports in the absence of their managers.

POSITION The Quality Director will be responsible for: • Establishing quality and reliability standards by studying product and customer requirements with the management team. • Establishing in-process product inspection standards by studying manufacturing methods, developing testing methods and procedures. • Establishing standards for the disposition of finished product by evaluating tests, methods, and procedures. • Establishing rework standards by devising inspection and physical testing methods and procedures. • Establishing product quality documentation system by writing and updating quality assurance procedures. • Acting as Management Representative for Quality and Environment Management systems. • Maintaining product quality by enforcing quality assurance policies and procedures and legal requirements. • Collaborating with other members of management team to develop new product and processes. • Preparing product and process quality reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. • Establishing quality assurance operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees, following up on test results. • Maintaining quality assurance staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees. • Maintaining quality assurance staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees and appraising job results. • Maintaining professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies. • Achieving financial objectives by preparing the quality assurance budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions. • Contributing to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. • Suggesting/Contributing to the Capital Projects for product and process improvements.
BASE REQUIREMENTS • Bachelor’s degree required. Metallurgy, Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, and Chemical Engineering disciplines will be considered. • Masters or higher-level education preferred. • 6+ years of experience in a Director level position in a metals manufacturing environment required. 10+ years of experience preferred. • Sound knowledge of ASTM and ASME standards required. • Knowledge of SAE AS, DIN, and EN standards highly preferred. • Sound knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures within the metallurgical field. • Experience working with Stainless Steels and Nickel Alloys. • Basic knowledge of computers and relevant software packages. Experience with SAP highly preferred. • Experience of Spectrometers, gauging methodology and metrology. • Knowledge of ET, UT, and NDT Techniques an added asset. • Experience of Nuclear, Aerospace and Nadcap Quality Systems highly preferred. • Must be able to pass a pre-employment criminal background check and drug screen.
