SUMMARY We are currently working with a niched manufacturer that is the world’s leader in their field to identify a Manufacturing Engineer. This organization is a subsidiary of an S&P 500 and Fortune 1000 company, and offers a highly stable, non-union working environment with approximately 125 employees.
This position is an addition to their staff, due to the company growing by 30% in the last year, with plans for continued growth. This position is a direct hire opportunity offering a competitive compensation and benefits package.
Reporting to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, the Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for the following: • Work closely with electromechanical and electro-optical assemblies. • Responsible for the transfer of new products into manufacturing (PN/BOM/Routing set-up). • Methodize the production of products to maximize quality and efficiency. • Fully introduce robotics into select production areas. • Implement engineering releases that includes managing the implementation process. • Create Engineering Change Requests (ECR) and Engineering Change Orders (ECO). • Control manufacturing changes (ECO and MCO implementation). • Responsible for maintaining and creating process sheets, work instructions, and operational methods sheets. • Establish, maintain, and provide training to production staff on relative Company standard operating procedures. • Develop workflow diagram for products to include QA check points. • Work closely with QA to resolves issues. • Responsible for reducing manufacturing process lead times. • Implementation of cost savings initiatives. • Activities including root cause analysis, definition of corrective/preventive actions and verification of actions. • Translate technical data into a format and language suitable for production personnel. • CM (contract manufacturer)/Supplier interaction and qualification. • Perform first part qualification/inspection. • Cross-functional among these disciplines: Engineering, Production, and Quality. • Define special tooling requirements, holding fixtures, and test tooling as required. • Respond promptly to process problems by utilizing troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. • Manage special projects. • Maintain compliance with all applicable OSHA and EPA standards; Maintain ISO compliance.
REQUIREMENTS • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or related Engineering field preferred. Candidates with a combination of experience and less education will be considered. • Minimum 2-5 years of applicable experience. • Machine shop and manufacturing environment experience. • Advanced ability to read and interpret specifications and drawings. • Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing. • Autodesk Inventor, Solid Modeling, or equal skills. • ERP and PLM system software experience. • Familiar with demand pull Kanban systems and Lean Manufacturing techniques. • Detail oriented / Ability to focus / Advanced problem solving skills / Strong communication skills / Team oriented. • Must be able to pass a pre-employment national criminal background check and drug screen.
