The Oncology Nursing Foundation (ONF), based in Pittsburgh PA, seeks an experienced philanthropy leader for its next Executive Director to continue its investment in oncology nurses through a diverse portfolio of academic scholarships, research grants, career development, and other awards. Established in 1981, the Foundation has distributed more than $27 million in support of research, education, and leadership development and has an endowment of more than $12 million. ONF is part of an enterprise that includes the Oncology Nursing Society with more than 37,000 members and the Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation with 40,000 certificants.
The Executive Director (ED) of the Oncology Nursing Foundation (ONF) is responsible for overseeing the fundraising, administration, programs and strategic plan of the organization. The ED leads and directs the ONF team to meet organizational goals in alignment with the strategic vision and supports the ONF Board to fulfill its responsibilities as defined by the bylaws and the laws, rules, and regulations applicable to a foundation. This position is a member of the Executive Leadership Team within the ONS Enterprise.

Responsibilities and Duties
Formulates, recommends, and implements methods which will most effectively raise support for operational, capital, programmatic, and endowment goals through private and public funding sources.
Represents the Foundation at community events, grantee events, and various engagements in the local community and nationally.
Ensures that the Foundation has an active portfolio of major donors and is responsible for a program of personal visits, relationship development, solicitation, and stewardship activities.
Directs and facilitates elected and volunteer leaders and appropriate board committees in fundraising efforts.
Approves fundraising marketing material.
Develops and recommends long-range program objectives and timetables for the Foundation considering fundraising activities among the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS), ONF, and the Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC) to avoid conflicting solicitation among the fund seekers within the three bodies.
Directs the funding distribution for all awards, grants and scholarship supported by ONF.
Governance and Board Administration
Coordinates the work of the ONS Foundation Board of Directors in partnership with the President and Executive Committee including strategic planning, monitoring and evaluation of fundraising performance, and stewardship.
Supports the Board in their development as trustees and manages the process of the Board's self-evaluation and performance improvement.
Management and Financial
Develops, monitors, and manages ONF's budget.
Supervises the day-to-day operations of the Foundation including supervision and evaluation of staff.
Manages the process for ensuring that the programs and services of the Foundation meet the established goals and uses improve quality processes.
Negotiates and secures grant contracts in support of the Foundation's mission and goals.
Supports a data driven culture. Directs compilation of statistics and statistical analysis. Directs conducting special studies and analysis to use in formation of plans for operational, capital, programmatic, and endowment campaigns.
Serves as a member of the Executive Leadership Team to ensure alignment of goals and strategic priorities among the enterprise corporations.
Qualifications and Skills
Masters' degree required along with five or more years' fundraising experience in a non-profit environment with an understanding of association volunteer-staff relationships and public relations; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
