Bachelor degree in Accounting and CPA license (active status) required
Minimum 5+ years public accounting experience or 5+ years combined public accounting and financial reporting experience at a publicly held company required
Solid understanding of GAAP and SEC regulations for public companies required
Demonstrated proficiency with accurate and complete technical accounting research required
Technical knowledge of accounting pronouncements and SEC rules and ability to perform accounting research required
Proficiency in Word, Excel required
Monitor new and developing accounting and reporting requirements and initiate new projects in response to these developments and manage this process to ensure that decisions are reached regarding new requirements well before the time of implementation. This is accomplished through a process of technical accounting research, data gathering, planning, review and analysis.
Participate in the preparation and filing of the quarterly, annual and current reports with the SEC. Perform review and oversight functions of certain aspects of these reporting responsibilities.
Participate as a member of various project teams related to acquisitions, mergers, dispositions, new products, financings, special transactions etc. Identify accounting issues requiring special consideration. Perform technical accounting research as needed on such new accounting transactions. Document and present research findings to management for approval.
Participate in internal and external valuations of assets acquired and liabilities assumed in connection with Federated’s acquisitions. Perform impairment analyses of intangible assets for review by management.
Upon approval of a new accounting policy, develop an implementation plan and work with the Assistant Controller or other appropriate person and his/her staff to ensure a smooth and efficient implementation.
Study exposure drafts of new accounting pronouncements and prepare comment letters on behalf of Federated for management review.
Complete other tasks and special projects as assigned.
