Position summary: The Director of Product Management drives the product roadmap for Lucas Systems by gathering customer input; tracking market trends; working with Sales team members to understand key market dynamics, challenges and opportunities; and working with Engineering to ensure product viability and on-time delivery. The Director of Product Management serves in a strategic as well as a hands-on tactical role with product support responsibility for the entire product life cycle from product conception, through development, market introduction, support and end of life.
Collaborate with Engineering and facilitate discussions with the Technology Council to develop and execute against technology roadmaps in alignment with the business plan and strategic objectives.
Lead product definition processes in support of an agile and customer-centric software development environment by: articulating clear and accurate market and product requirements, developing compelling business cases to support product requirements, and enabling Voice of Customer inputs directly with Engineering team members.
Facilitate Beta site and field trial product deployments with Engineering and Sales.
Work hands on with the product teams to prioritize, plan and deliver new products. Coordinate product rollouts and transition plans working with customer support, marketing and sales to ensure these teams are prepared to successfully support market launch of new products as well as transitions from existing product offerings.
Manage product pricing factoring in overall value proposition, competitive situation and financial objectives with Sales and CFO.
Clearly outline key product benefits, value proposition, differentiation and positioning.
Partner with Marketing to develop and deliver all outbound and product marketing collateral, Training Materials, Customer Presentations, Press Releases, User Conferences and Trade Shows, Social Media and Sales Campaigns.
Lead assessment, prioritization and engagement on technical alliances with outside organizations to effectively broaden our product portfolio.
Manage outsourced hardware product offering portfolio. Oversee hardware certification standards. Ensure continuity of hardware product offerings through technology advancements that support an overall excellent customer experience.
Develop and manage service offering portfolio including site survey, customer training, and site technology health check assessments.
Cultivate in depth knowledge and expertise on competitive market dynamics. Work with Sales to identify and prioritize market opportunities and demonstrate competitive differentiation. Develop and maintain a market model that includes sizing, growth, competitive activity, customer, regulatory and technology factors to guide strategic discussions on target markets.
Collaborate with Sales and Operations to develop and deploy a global partner sales channel program.
Develop relationships with customers and prospects to learn about their business challenges in support of on-going and future revenue opportunities.
Skills and Experience
BA/BS required. Technical degree preferred. MBA preferred.
10+ years of experience with an engineering and product management/product marketing of software products. Software as a service, business analytics, machine learning and enterprise software product management experience preferred. Voice technology and/or warehousing/distribution experience a plus.
Entrepreneurial and flexible mindset. Proven ability to think strategically to identify market trends and technology shifts, and to tactically develop, execute, drive and adjust successful product plans and roadmaps.
Ability to guide, mentor, lead and motivate cross-functional teams.
Demonstrated full life cycle product line management experience.
Excellent written and verbal communication, including presentation and active listening skills.
Results-driven, self-starter with strong organizational skills.
Strong critical thinking skills with analytical ability and data-driven decision making skills.
Ability to travel 20%+.
