Major activities/Key challenges
Interfacing with the plant quality and engineering teams for an SQM installation
Participating in project reviews for SQM installations and upgrades
Have to the ability to setup new systems and classifications
Training SQM owners and users on how to maximize the effectiveness of the SQM systems
Driving the effective use of SQM systems for process control
Maintain the health of all Rolling SQM systems
Work with PCS to maintain the computer systems in compliance with Alcoa’s requirements
Negotiate with purchasing and vendor to get the MPA and Service and Support Contracts for the SQM systems
Work with Finishing SQM process specialist to optimize plant wide SQM systems
Essential Knowledge & Skills/Education
Experience and knowledge of aluminum rolling and finishing operations
Hands on experience with installing, maintaining and using SQM systems
Project management experience
Alcoa Aluminum BU external customers
SQM Owners, SPA's and users
Hot Mill, Cold MIll, Quality and Finishing Managers
Quality, CPQA and Commercial Organization
5+ years progressive experience in a heavy manufacturing environment
3 years experience with Surface Quality Monitoring systems
Familiarity with the installation of SQM equipment
Experience in effectively using SQM in a quality function
Ability to supervise people
Good written and verbal communication skills and MS Office skills.
Demonstrated ability to operate in an advisory and collaborative role with internal and external customers.
Ability to work independently and lead multi-functional or multi-disciplined teams.
Ability to mentor others and provide direction to project team members.
Experience and exposure to aluminum sheet surface critical customers.
