Bachelor degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics required; Bachelors in Finance preferred
2 years finance or accounting experience required
Experience with financial analysis and corporate budgeting / forecasting required
2 – 4 years’ experience in mutual funds industry preferred
Experience in technology or IT Financial Management preferred
Strong understanding of cost accounting and financial accounting preferred
Experience with financial information systems such as Hyperion Essbase/Smartview, Oracle Financials, or MIS is a plus
This position completes financial analyses and participates in the corporate planning process, the expense review process and the production of business unit / corporate level reports.
Participate in all aspects of the corporate planning process (budget/forecast); includes data entry, detailed revenue and cost analysis, reconciliation, and tracking against plan. Interact with department managers to gather information and provide feedback and results throughout the budget process.
Create ad hoc financial reports that meet managers’ requests or provide managers with relevant information on a periodic basis.
Construct financial models in order to answer questions, apply sensitivity (“what if”) analysis, and test recommendations. Often anticipates potential business scenarios.
Communicate (verbal, visual and written) with Business Managers through presentation and analysis of data.
Conduct continuous follow up to final submitted analyses.
Seek and understand sources of data for input into analyses and models.
Document all information sources, assumptions, and analytics.
Interact with Decision Support associates and other departments for the purpose of obtaining and providing information.
Direct the activities and review the output of Data Coordinators.
Interpret requests into final, formatted reports in an accurate and timely manner with minimal supervision.
Independently identify expense trend variations and provide explanations.
Prepares 3rd party payment accruals and other information for closing process.
Ensure accuracy of related systems by reviewing aggregate transactions and reconciling data on a periodic basis (monthly and/or quarterly) from the Expense Reviews with all related systems such as Oracle Financials and Hyperion Essbase/SmartView.
Seek to enhance knowledge of Federated and financial services industry through continuous training and education.
